The Greatest

In Africa in 1971 we had no television.  In our town there were maybe two or three televisions and if there were televisions there wasn't much to see.   At the age of six I was already a sports addict and thou I had never seen a fight, Muhammad Ali was a favorite of mine.  My grandmother use to tell me how when he lost the first fight to Frasier I threw a fit and would not accept it.  I kept telling my dad it was not so, and ended up breaking my grandmother's glasses and thermos when I threw a soccer ball in the house in anger.

In 1974 we had just moved to Canada, and my dad along with some of our uncles were immigrants in a new country and new culture.  Ali was going to fight Foreman and it was going to be closed circuit broadcast. These immigrants used what little money they had and bought tickets, and my father took me.  I was nine.  It was the first time I saw a fight live or on television.  I have vivid memories of standing on a chair just to see the screen and shouting when Ali won.  Like always the sense relief when your favorite finally wins was overwhelming.. I love it.   Forever an ALI fan.

In my teens I started to learn about history and again the amazement to learn about his stand against the war and on principle.  He was no longer a boxer but a hero, and idol.  When I got to University my education broadened into civil rights and I found myself, as do all immigrants aligning with Malcolm X instead of King. Whatever it is in my African DNA, it makes me a Malcolm X person and so my ideology of of rights, ethics, life were established.

A decade later I came to learn that Malcolm brought Ali to religion and was his mentor.  They may have had a falling out, but the base was set by Malcolm.  Thus from the age of six, I have been a fan of Ali, the man and now today fifty years later I still believe in the things he and Malcolm believed.

Today I am saddened as one of my idols had gone and the world is so in need of men as such today.  The current American president highlights even more how great Ali and Malcolm were, as today there are no leaders with principle, back bone, courage to stand for whats right.

I have taught my children about Ali and Malcolm and I hope they do the same to their children.  In this family we stand for whats right, and we have ethics.

Its not bragging when its a fact, and it is a fact....Ali is the Greatest.....

Hey Indians, Hey India, shut the fuck up!!!!

A member of the indian consulate got arrested in NY city and now the Indian press and people are all up in arms over her treatment.
Here is what is wrong with India.  She got arrested because she mistreated her house worker that she brought from India with a false visa.  She used false statements, and then broke the rule about how much the house staff was getting paid.  She paid her $3.31 an hour.
This is the arrogance of the Indian upper classes which they kept and got from the freaking British.
If you are in America then follow the law.  This is not India and America doesn't give a fuck if you are not to be treated that way.

What is wrong with you Indians?  You should be happy the ruling class got fixed for abusing the poor help. You should be cheering about the treatment and insisting the same in your country when these so called special people break laws. You kicked the British out for this type of behavior now you are doing the same to your own people.  Shame on you.

The Indians don't think they should even be searched when they are diplomats.  How did Indians become more British then the Brits.

There is no point in being cordial when you read this kind of story.  Here I am fighting to make the world equal and the damm Indians are hanging on the traditions which separate us.

I am sorry for my language but when I read this story thats what was going thru my mind.  Shut the fuck up!  Feed the poor, help the girls, and bring your country out of its mess before you get your arms up because one of your diplomats got caught lying, breaking the law and being an arrogant  ass…...

Sportsmanship

Here is the big issue in sports today? The lack of sportsmanship. When I was a young boy in Africa I learned two great lessons which I still follow today about sports and games. My grandfather played checkers with me everyday from the time I was five. He never played sports, he had grown up in an age when you had no time for such activities. My sports came from my father who excelled at every sport he got to play in Africa. What the two men taught me was the essence of sportsmanship. My grandfather taught me to play to learn. You weren't playing to win but to learn and thus every time you played you learned. Your love for the game came from the playing. Do not take this to mean losing was ok, it wasn't. Winning was the motivation to learn and play better, losing was the inspiration to be better. Both had equal value.My father taught me fairness. Sport is about rules and fairness. Every sport has rules. Every sport requires you to follow rules. Thus sport is about following rules and succeeding within those boundaries. Fairness is understanding the rules apply to all. Lying and cheating had no part in sports. My father told me early, if you cheat to win, you lie to win, you lose. The only person you hurt is you. You will always know you cheated, and living with that is your punishment. In history, the greatness of athletes was their sportsmanship. Their understanding of what it means to be a sportsman. The winners as well as the losers had dignity and honor. Today their exists no such honor. Today the world of sport is about winning at all costs. The winning at all costs leads to the lack of ethics. These so called athletes and wannabe athletes are able to justify their lack of ethics in the guise of winning. We have millions of people putting value on their rec sports as if its something the world is wanting to remember for posterity. Ethics have come into play as scandal surrounds the sporting world. Athletes being caught or accused of doping and their fans having to choose sides. The most amazing thing about this saga with Lance Armstrong is how the people who most value ethics or who most vehemently defend ethics are the ones who most support Mr. Armstrong. I for one am not convicting him, however I will never defend him. The answer to "Have you ever taken drugs, cheated or doped?" is NO!!!!! The answer is not " I have never failed a test." Its only logical if you are cheating, your goal is not to fail the drug test. What amazed me was the so called athlete, sportsman refused the chance to answer his critics. My upbringing and subsequent association with sportsmen thru my life and in various sports, has me convinced no sportsman, no fair minded athlete would stand down at the question of ethics associated with his accomplishment.Winning at all costs, is not the phrase for the kids. It has corrupted the parents and the children. Winning thru work, fairness, and competition is the goal. Losing thru work, fairness, and competition is a learning experience. How are we going to change this, if the parents themselves have no sportsmanship?My father played sports with his friends all his life. He played professionally, but he played every chance he got with his friends. I play with my friends, and its my friends who keep me playing. Winning makes the beer taste colder, however winning without friends is drinking beer alone. I am the most competitive person I know, and I have spent the last two decades hiding the urge, as I wanted to teach my kids sportsmanship. I can become a win at all cost kind of a guy, but the price is not worth it. My daughter hates to lose, but she hates it more when you let her win. Her biggest hatred is cheating. When rules are broken or ignored she goes ballistic. Its a good thing in life to have principles. Those with principles don't do it to show the others. Those who value fairness and sportsmanship will find honor and greatness thrust upon them. Those who don't will always find the cloud of suspicion.In the end most of us normal people who play sports should find the joy in playing and in friendship sport brings. My biggest competitors became my friends and associates. When the game ends I find solace in genuine shake of hands at a joint accomplishment. There can be no winners without losers.

I couldn't care less about Wiener, in fact I hadn't even paid attention to it until this morning. Apparently I am not twitting properly.
What is amazing is the scandals of all these men in power doing stupid things. Who said stupid doesn't succeed?  Seems in the last 15 years the world has rewarded idiots.  I think it started with Bill Clinton.  The pioneer of stupid politician.
So is it a coincidence, this Wiener gets caught in a scandal, then goes on television and lies.  Then claims it shouldn't effect his job performance.  Really?  Your decision making is not a part of your job description.  Now he is going to play semantics with words.
The kicker: his wife is the chief assistant of.....wait for it..... Hillary Clinton!
I can just see Bill giving this guy advice.  Lol.

Why the French Piss Me Off.

The French have always lectured the US and Bush on ethics and doing things for the world. On not being selfish. The truth has always been the opposite.
The French are the definition of hypocrisy and corruption.

Here are two examples from this week of this nation leaders and ethics.

French Foreign Minister Michele Alilot-Marie took a trip to Tunisia aboard a Tunisian Business man's private jet and stayed in Tunisia during the uprising. She also offered the services of the French police to help quell the freedom protesters. This is the same government who hated Bush?????

Prime Minister Francois Fillon admits during the Christmas break, his family was lent a private Jet and their lodgings were covered by Mubarak for their trip to Egypt. Again seriously, we need to learn anything from the French?????? Why would we the US ever listen to them???

Ofcourse these people will not lose their jobs, because its France.

Ethics?

When I played sports in my youth, I was extremely competitive. Winning was always the foremost goal. However, the first thing I learned as a child who liked to compete was you never cheat.
No matter how you justify it, if you cheat, the only person you are harming is you.
When you are alone, you know you cheated, thus you know you didn't deserve to win, thus your win wasn't earned, and you will know always you weren't deserving.

So it amazes me today when I see world class athletes who cheat. Where is the ethic? Where is the pride?

As I tell my children, you can win by cheating, but you will never feel the satisfaction of winning as a cheater. You will know you cheated.

The big lesson of life, is we have to live with our actions.

Obama's Extortion

This week I got an email from Obama and his people asking to help the President with helping America. Thats all and well. However it went on to say if we wanted to help the President fight for us we should donate to his campaign? Donate??? This is extortion.
This is not change, its unethical, its corruption. I will not give money so his political people have jobs and money to live the luxe life. I thought only in Africa did African men lead like this. Another African man raping his people and the poor and letting his friends benefit. Some change.

10 000 idiots donated money this week. I guess there will always be blind followers to drink the kool aid.
